CONTENT COVERED

This module will help youths understand their own sexuality.

  • What determines my sex?
  • How do I know my sexual orientation?
  • The human body - who am I?
  • What shapes my identity?

(1) SEXUAL IDENTITY

Clarifying the "whys" of sex can empower youths to stand firm in what they believe in.

  • What is the purpose of sex?
  • What does sexual wholeness mean to me?
  • How important is sexual health and purity?
  • What is the difference between love, lust and infatuation?

(2) SEXUAL INTEGRITY

In this module, we help youths understand the factors that go into sexual decision-making and the various consequences.

  • How do values and consent affect sexual decision-making?
  • How far is too far?
  • How can I navigate love and relationships?
  • How are men and women unique?

(3) SEXUAL INTELLIGENCE

We often think that what we do in private stays private, but this module helps youths recognise that sexual issues also affect out mindsets towards relationships and our future family.

  • How do I make sense of the different sexual orientations and gender identities?
  • How does masturbation, pornography or abortion affect me?

(4) SEXUAL ISSUES

Equip youths to engage wisely with the wider culture, while also clarifying their values on sexuality.

  • How can I have a safe conversation about sexuality?
  • What do I do when my sexual values differ from the crowd?

(5) SEXUAL DISCOURSE

THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE

Our youth’s values and attitudes towards sexuality are increasingly shaped by their peers, popular culture and the digital world.

Because of conflicting voices, many are struggling with understanding their own sexuality and making choices in line with their values
and life goals.

They need guidance on:

  • drawing healthy boundaries with their peers as well as the opposite sex

  • what is good and beneficial in terms of sexual identity and behaviour

  • how to hold on to their own values in the face of a sexually liberal culture

Resources
  • A set of the  SexEdTM Workshop content slides

  • Proposed programme flow and engagement tips to conduct your own sexuality lessons and dialogues
Like-minded Community
  • Become part of Focus on the Family Singapore's community of practice on sexuality education, allowing you to tap on like-minded networks of practitioners to enable ongoing learning and discussion
